RESUMO
O fibroma ossificante periférico (FOP) consiste em uma lesão proliferativa não neoplásica bucal de etiologia traumática. Neste trabalho é relatado um incomum caso clínico de FOP de dimensões exageradas, localizado na cavidade bucal de paciente economicamente carente e com precárias condições de saúde oral. GMKL, do sexo feminino, com 46 anos de idade, procurou atendimento odontológico apresentando um crescimento tecidual na região maxilar superior direita, medindo aproximadamente 5 cm de diâmetro, cujo tratamento foi realizado com sucesso através de excisão cirúrgica convencional da lesão, extração dos dentes remanescentes próximos à hiperplasia e curetagem do leito cirúrgico. A partir da realização do presente estudo, além de apresentar à classe odontológica um caso de FOP de grandes proporções, ressalta-se a importância dos cuidados básicos com a saúde bucal, tanto por parte do paciente, quanto pelos serviços públicos de saúde
Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a prolific lesion, non bucal neoplastic of traumatic etiology. In this work, an uncommon clinical case of exaggerated dimensions is reported. It is located in the bucal cavity of a patient who is economically deprived and with precarious health oral conditions. GMKL, female, aging 46 years old who was looking for dental service, showing tissue growing in the right superior maxilar, measuring nearly 5cm diameter, which treatment was successfully carried out through conventional surgical excision of the lesion, extraction of the remaining teeth closed to the hyperplasia and curettage of the surgical bed. From the accomplishment of the present study, besides presenting to the surgical dental class a case of POF, of great proportions, it is highlighted the importance of the basic cares with bucal health by the patient as well as by the public health services
